Paula Fredriksen is one of the most popular and richest Historian who was born on January 6, 1951 in Kingston, Kingston Parish, Jamaica. Paula F. Fredriksen (born on January 6, 1951 in Kingston, Rhode Island) is an American historian and expert in religious studies. She served as the William Goodwin Aurelio professor of the appreciation of Scripture at Boston University from 2010 to the present. She is an Emerita of the Chair William Goodwin for The Appreciation of Scripture.
She was a an historical consultant for BBC film The Lives of Jesus (1996) and also for U.S. News and World Report in the series “The Life and Times of Jesus” and was a featured as a speaker for The Frontline documentary , From Jesus to Christ Jesus and the first Christians (1998) Based in large part on her novel Jesus to Christ The Roots and Development of New Testament Images of Jesus.
She has held that much of the scholarship regarding Jesus from the 19th and 20th centuries has an anti-Judaic (and/or anti-Semitic) bias, a theme explored in her book Jesus, Judaism, and Christian anti-Judaism: Reading the New Testament after the Holocaust.
Her book, From Jesus To Christ, (Yale University Press 1988) received the Governors of the publisher’s Award. Its work Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews: A Jewish life and the emergence of Christianity (Knopf 1999) was awarded the National Jewish Book Award.

Fredriksen received her B.A. qualification and Phi Beta Kappa in Religion and History in 1973 at the Wellesley College and a year later earned a degree for theology and theology, both from Oxford University. The year 1979 was the time she received an Ph.D. in the history of religion at Princeton University and until 1980 was the Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University.
Fredriksen began her teaching career as a lecturer in the Department of Religion of Princeton University in 1978. From 1979 until 1980 she was a professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Stanford University. The university she was at relocated to was Berkeley, California at the University of California, Berkeley in 1980. There, from 1980 to 1986 was an assistant professor in the Department of History and from 1986 until 1989 she was an associate professor in the Department of Religious Studies, of Pittsburgh University.
Fredriksen was named Distinguished Visiting Professor at Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2009 and, in April 2013, elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (AAAS). In 2017, Prof. Fredriksen received an honorary Doctorate of Theology from Lund University in Sweden.
